Promoting holistic and collaborative care to nurture student well-being and empower academic achievement. Values include collaboration with purpose, breaking down barriers, strengthening families, and informing strategic choices with data.
The grant program by the LGBTQIA+ Equality Fund focuses on several key areas to support and empower the LGBTQIA+ community. These include: providing a strong support network for LGBTQIA+ community members, especially youth and elders; investing in leadership development to achieve collective impact; increasing visibility and acknowledgment of intersectionality within the community; promoting inclusivity, openness, and acceptance both within the LGBTQIA+ community and the greater community at large; and ensuring equitable access to essential services while addressing inequities in the current systems. Funding priorities for the grant include workforce training, education, improved access to informed and supportive health care, intervention in the justice system, public leadership, advocacy, allyship, and homelessness prevention. Applications that showcase collaboration among organizations and have strong LGBTQIA+ representation are particularly encouraged. The fund operates through a collaboration among several foundations and is administered by the Omaha Community Foundation with decisions made by a community-led committee.
