The mission of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is to provide and protect outstanding natural, scenic, cultural, historic, and recreational sites for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations. OPRD strives to ensure parks are welcoming, effectively deliver services, plan for leadership succession, and celebrate Oregon's heritage for stable future funding and long-view protection of special places.
The Preserving Oregon Grant, offered by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), focuses on matching grants for rehabilitation projects that support the preservation of historic resources listed in the National Register of Historic Places or that contribute significantly towards identifying, preserving, and/or interpreting archaeological sites.
