The mission is to spark discovery, understanding, and collaboration that foster healthy, inclusive, and resilient coastal communities and ecosystems.
Oregon Sea Grant offers both competitive and noncompetitive funding opportunities for university-based research focused on our oceans, coastlines, and both their natural and human communities. The grant supports projects that involve collaboration among scientists from various agencies globally, primarily funded by NOAA. Specific to Program Development Grants, these are designed for projects that emerge outside the regular application cycles, providing seed money for exploratory or urgent needs that align with Oregon Sea Grant's strategic plan. These grants are modest, usually not exceeding $10,000, aimed at projects lasting one year or less, though larger requests may be considered through a peer review process. While not required, leveraging additional funds is encouraged.
