The mission of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) is to promote excellence in care for injured patients by providing scientific forums and supporting musculoskeletal research and education for Orthopaedic Surgeons and the public. The OTA aims to be the authoritative source on the optimal treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal injury, communicate this to the Orthopaedic and medical community, and influence healthcare policy affecting injury care and prevention. The association emphasizes adaptability, fiscal responsibility, and diversity in its worldwide membership, striving for leadership in education, research, and patient advocacy with a commitment to diversity and inclusion at all levels.
The Patient Mental Health Grant by OTA is aimed at developing resources to support the mental and social health of patients. This includes screening, evaluation, and care programs, development of peer trauma survivor mentorship programs, initiation of trauma recovery coaching resources, and other innovative ideas. The grant offers up to $5,000 but requires an institutional match at double the proposal amount. Grantees receive support from the OTA's Patient Mental Health Task Force, including mentorship on implementation challenges. Membership in OTA and good standing is required to apply.
