Outride is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth through cycling.
Outride's (R4F) Riding for Focus program is a middle school-based cycling education and safety initiative. It aims to leverage cycling as a means to enhance students' cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional well-being. The program is specifically designed for 6th to 8th-grade students and provides comprehensive support, including bicycles, helmets, a curriculum, training for teachers, and an opportunity to participate in an annual event at Specialized Bikes headquarters. R4F is available for purchase or via a grant for public middle schools in low-income areas. The curriculum encompasses 14 lessons focusing on rider safety and skills and is intended to be administered across a minimum of six weeks, with the possibility of holding sessions up to three times a week. Schools participating in the program are required to complete an evaluation for each unit implemented, supporting continuous improvement and impact assessment.
