The PhRMA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports biopharmaceutical innovation and value-driven health care. It aims to catalyze the careers of promising researchers by providing competitive, peer-reviewed grants and fellowships in drug delivery, drug discovery, translational medicine, and value assessment and health outcomes research. Its vision is a healthier world where all have access to life-changing medicines, emphasizing integrity, innovation, and collaboration in its efforts.
The PhRMA Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship in Drug Delivery supports advanced students (both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens) engaged in training and thesis research in drug delivery fields such as basic pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical biotechnology, or biomedical engineering. The program focuses on projects that improve understanding of drug delivery mechanisms, including formulation composition, delivery technologies, drug dosage forms for better transport, targeting, and elimination of drugs, aiming for higher quality, cost-effectiveness, stability, or flexibility in drug delivery systems. The grant emphasizes the importance of delivering complex drugs like biologics, small molecules, and cell and gene therapy through advanced technological and formulation methods. Funding, amounting to $30,000 annually with up to $1,000 for research-related incidentals and travel to scientific conferences in the U.S., is contingent upon continuous enrollment at the university, with payments made directly to the institution on behalf of the awardee.
