The Rhode Island Foundation seeks to address the health and healthcare needs of Rhode Islanders by managing and distributing funds from generous donors. These funds are designated for specific medical conditions, aiming to support nonprofit organizations working within these areas to improve health outcomes and address health inequities and disparities across the state.
The grant program focuses on supporting nonprofit organizations engaged in a wide range of health-related activities. These include education, prevention, care, and treatment for various medical conditions such as renal disease, terminal illnesses, incurables, low-vision and blindness, cancer, physical disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities, as well as issues involving human growth hormone steroids or other performance-enhancing substances. Additionally, limited funding may be available for supporting individuals with mental illness, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, or heart conditions. Priority is given to projects that demonstrate significant impact on health and healthcare, particularly those that tackle health inequities and disparities within Rhode Island.
