The Management Improvement Fund, a special fund of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, aims to support nonprofits in the Twin Cities East Metro area by providing grants for consultation and technical assistance. This effort is designed to expand organizational capacity, enhance management capabilities, and nurture BIPOC leadership within the nonprofit sector. Through these grants, the Foundation seeks to address the various needs and strengths of BIPOC and low-income communities, reflecting a commitment to flexibility, responsiveness, and improved conditions within these communities.
The Management Improvement Fund grants focus on vital capacity-building and technical assistance for small to midsize nonprofit organizations. The broad goal is to finance the cost of services that expand organizational capacity, improve management to better serve the community, and support BIPOC leadership. Grant recipients will be able to bolster fundraising efforts, expand programs, and improve services to the community. The Fund acknowledges the financial struggles of nonprofits, especially in raising enough revenue to support BIPOC and/or low-income individuals and families. It aims to be an ongoing, responsive source of support, addressing community-defined needs and supporting nonprofits as they navigate the challenges posed by racial reckoning and the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes a flexible and broadened funding guideline to ensure BIPOC nonprofit leaders and organizations have the resources needed to thrive.
