The Chula Vista Community Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life in Chula Vista by addressing emerging needs. This is achieved by encouraging effective philanthropy, building an endowment for the community, annually funding organizations and causes, and providing a means for legacy planning and cash gifts. This effort is driven by a vision to cultivate a culture of giving that strengthens and enriches Chula Vista's community life across generations.
The SDG&E Community Assistance Fund Grant program is designed to support approximately 20 nonprofits with substantial funding, ranging from $250,000 to $1 million, to catalyze a transformational impact on the communities they serve. This funding aims to expand the reach and efficacy of critical services provided by trusted social service organizations, particularly in the areas of housing and rental assistance to prevent evictions (excluding homeless shelters and services), and food security, inclusive of emergency food assistance and support in accessing permanent assistance programs. The grant initiative highlights its intention to serve diverse underserved populations, specifying communities of concern, older adults, and low-income individuals and families as priority groups. With a total of $10 million available in funding, SDG&E ensures that a portion of each grant can be applied towards organizational capacity building, allowing for a broad and flexible application across various programs to maximize community benefit.
