The Community Foundation inspires philanthropy and serves as a catalyst and connector for community impact.
The Growing Together: An LGBTQ+ Fund grants program, operating from 2022 to 2025, offers financial support up to $5,000 for 501(c)3 organizations in San Luis Obispo County. It aims to enhance or introduce programs that focus on three main areas: 1) Employing strategies to engage and prioritize queer and trans people of color (QTPOC), acknowledging their greater exposure to discrimination and various forms of minority stress which impact their access to services and health outcomes. 2) Advancing medical and mental healthcare for transgender and nonbinary individuals by identifying health disparities, changing and implementing new policies and practices for equity, and evaluating efforts for systematic improvements. 3) Establishing queer-inclusive spaces in areas of the county that are currently underserved, recognizing the importance of safe, affirming spaces for the LGBTQ+ community.
