The San Marcos Community Foundation (SMCF) is committed to enhancing the quality of life in San Marcos by functioning as a nonprofit public benefit corporation. It provides financial and other support to programs that benefit the city or its residents, thanks to an endowment fund established with a contribution from the builders of the North County Energy and Resource Recovery Center.
The SMCF grants support a wide spectrum of causes aiming to improve community life for San Marcos residents. These grants target various areas including Arts & Culture, Health & Well-being, Children & Youth, Seniors, Civic Life, Education, and Wildlife. Specifically, the foundation offers Mini grants for organizations seeking funding of $1,500 or less. This broad-based support reflects the foundation’s commitment to covering diverse needs within the community, ensuring support reaches a wide array of nonprofit groups dedicated to serving different segments of San Marcos.
