The Sherwood Foundation® promotes equity through social justice initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life in Nebraska. They focus on ensuring equitable power, access, opportunities, treatment, impacts, and outcomes for all by reinforcing policies, practices, attitudes, and actions aligned with social justice.
The Sherwood Foundation® supports various causes, primarily serving Nebraska through nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities, schools, or churches in good standing with the IRS. Their grant programs include Urban Community Partnerships, Omaha Public Schools, Rural Community Partnerships, and support for Early Childhood Education through The Buffett Early Childhood Fund. They prioritize family stability, child wellbeing, community leadership development, inclusion, collaboration, and early education, seeking to foster local capacity to address community-identified priorities. Additionally, the foundation values civil liberties, equality, fairness, and particularly focuses on supporting women and people oppressed due to their race, sexual orientation, and/or religion.
