United Airlines established a Fund within the Siouxland Community Foundation in appreciation of Siouxland’s response to the United Flight 232 incident in July of 1989. The fund aims to provide financial support for education and community projects in the Siouxland area.
The Community Foundation of Lyon County Grant program is designed to meet present and emerging needs in Lyon County by supporting projects in several key areas: Arts & Culture, Civic, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. This initiative seeks to provide or improve access to cultural events, community beautification, government services, environmental conservation, health maintenance, and support for vulnerable populations. Grant recommendations are made by the CFLC Advisory Board, based on community needs and the applicant organization's potential to improve life in Lyon County.
