The core purpose of the SAEM Foundation is to improve health by investing in academic emergency medicine career development, research, and education.
The GEMSSTAR for Emergency Medicine Supplemental Funding Program is a matching grant initiative designed to support recipients of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) R03 award, specifically those involved in the Grants for Early Medical/Surgical Subspecialists’ Transition to Aging Research (GEMSSTAR) Program. This supplemental program, funded by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation (SAEMF) and the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF), aims to aid emergency medicine GEMSSTAR applicants in their Professional Development Plan (PDP) as a part of their R03 research project. Its primary goal is to bolster the capacity of early medical and surgical subspecialists focusing on aging research within emergency medicine, offering financial assistance that complements the funding from the NIA R03 award.
