The George C. Thornton Graduate Scholarship is designed to financially support a doctoral student in Industrial/Organizational Psychology who exemplifies the scientist/practitioner model, a principle deeply valued by Dr. Thornton in his career. This scholarship seeks a recipient who demonstrates considerable achievement in both the scientific and practical facets of I/O psychology. Criteria for selection include a focus on scientific inquiry, integration of science and practice in field and academic experiences, scientific merit through rigorous academic and research pursuits, practitioner merit evidenced by application of theories and methods in organizational settings, and faculty recommendations.
