The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium aims to transform grantmaking efforts in the South to ensure more resources reach organizations dedicated to supporting and empowering Black girls and women.
The Black Girls Dream Fund, initiated by the Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium, focuses on providing general operating grants to Black women-led projects and organizations within a 13 state region in the South. The grant prioritizes support in five key areas: Education, Health + Wellness, Economic Opportunity, Social Justice, and Leadership + Empowerment. It targets Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, East Texas, West Virginia, and Virginia. Selection of awardees is conducted through the Wisdom Council, consisting of Black women leaders, to ensure the grants support organizations that significantly contribute to the care and empowerment of Black girls.
