SMIF believes in the potential of small communities to thrive with the right resources. It is dedicated to empowering these communities to adapt and grow amidst economic and community changes, emphasizing the importance of local assets and leadership in driving development and well-being.
The Early Care and Education Grant Program by SMIF aims to support early care and education services for children from birth to age five within its operational region. Eligible organizations working with this age group in the specified 20-county area may apply for grants up to $20,000. The grant covers various expenses, including support for social, emotional, physical, and mental health, as well as training and development for better operational effectiveness in addressing the needs of young children. Priority is given to activities that sustain early care and education services, with a special focus on meeting the needs of underserved groups.
