The Story County Community Foundation (SCCF) aims to significantly improve or affect the lives of people living in Story County communities by allocating resources through its grantmaking activities.

It seeks to strengthen the nonprofit sector, promote philanthropy, encourage civic involvement, foster inclusive communities, support families and youth, and serve as a catalyst for collaborative community improvement. Specifically, the Major Grant targets projects that tackle significant community issues with innovative, practical proposals that build on community strengths, have a clear work plan, encourage cooperation, involve community members, demonstrate quality and good management, and provide a sustainability plan.
