Club300 Bird Protection Grant

    From Swedish Club300

Since 1991, the Swedish Club300 has focused on bird protection worldwide, by funding conservation and research projects. These projects often target rare, threatened, or little-known bird species. Funding primarily comes from member contributions, bird fair collections, and donations from individuals or associations. Despite limited resources, their aim is to support efforts surrounding highly threatened or poorly understood bird species.

    Overview

The grant program by the Swedish Club300 is designed to support bird protection projects across the globe. With contributions exceeding $600,000 over the years, the program emphasizes the conservation and research of rare, threatened, or little-known bird species such as Guerney's Pitta, Hawaiian Crow, Fatu Hiva Monarch, Puaiohi, Juan Fernández Firecrown, and Sumatran Ground Cuckoo. The majority of their funding comes from Swedish members, but also includes proceeds from bird fairs and donations from other sources. On average, about $8,000 is donated annually to prioritize and support projects focusing on highly threatened or understudied bird species.
