The Mission of the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic is to engage in the ministry of Jesus Christ and the mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA) as described in the Great Ends of the Church by providing information, encouragement, and support in caring for its member presbyteries, congregations, and members.
The Presbytery Initiative Fund, overseen by the Presbytery Initiatives Committee (formerly known as the Shared Ministries Program), is oriented towards supporting specific mission projects proposed by presbyteries and congregations. These projects require endorsement from two presbyteries collaborating on the mission effort. The fund has two application deadlines annually, on February 1st and August 1st, indicating a structured and periodic review of proposals to ensure targeted support for impactful projects.
