The Tennessee Rural Partnership (TRP), now the Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development (TCHWD), aims to improve healthcare in Tennessee by recruiting primary care and other health professionals to rural and underserved areas. Initially focused on primary care physicians, its scope has expanded to include multiple primary care disciplines, behavioral health, and dental professionals.
The Practice Site Recruitment and Retention Incentive offers $50,000 to assist practice sites in rural or underserved areas of Tennessee with the recruitment of primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psych nurse practitioners, or dentists. The grant targets practices serving TennCare and/or uninsured patients and can be used for a variety of purposes including sign-on bonuses, relocation expenses, equipment purchases, insurance, locum tenens, or tuition/loan repayment. Applicants encouraged to propose other uses for the funds are invited to discuss their ideas with the funder.
