The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) is a professional association devoted to promoting excellence in music education, comprising approximately 20,000 members that include K–college music educators and college music students. Organized into 33 regions across Texas, TMEA emphasizes representation and administration of business and programming through elected officers, serving the diverse needs of its divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary, College.
The TMEA Research Grant aims to support the advancement of knowledge in music education by providing an annual research grant of up to $1,200. This grant targets specific areas of interest including music teacher and student retention, recruitment methods to enhance diversity in music classes, social emotional learning, and cultural responsiveness within music education. Qualified applicants must be active TMEA members throughout their study period and demonstrate a willingness to complete their proposed research within the specified timeline.
