Tree Canada is a registered charity focused on planting and nurturing trees, engaging a variety of stakeholders towards creating a greener, healthier living environment in Canada. Since its establishment, it has planted over 82 million trees and greened numerous schoolyards, underscoring its dedication to environmental restoration and urban forestry.
The Edible Trees Grant from Tree Canada aims to promote local food sources and foster community building by funding the planting of edible trees and shrubs. This initiative targets alleviating food insecurity by enabling access to fruits, nuts, seeds, berries, and pods, thereby enhancing health and nutrition for Canadians. Tree Canada prioritizes community-based projects across Canada, including those run by educational institutions, First Nations communities, municipalities, community groups or gardens, food banks, and community housing projects, with a track record of supporting over 120 Edible Trees projects and planting more than 10,000 fruit and nut trees nationwide.
