The Re-X Before Recycling Prize invites competitors to unlock new or expanded circular supply chain opportunities that reintegrate end-of-use products into the economy, extending their lifecycle beyond a single use. This three-phase prize targets innovations that can reduce the embodied energy and carbon of manufactured goods, bolster regional manufacturing, create jobs, and minimize landfill, incineration, and extraction impacts. Phase 1 focuses on identifying opportunities and planning, Phase 2 on preparing the innovation for development, and Phase 3 on implementing the innovation in a viable supply chain, with financial and technical assistance available at each stage to support the advancement towards a circular economy.
