    Overview

The grant aims to strengthen Kazakhstan’s media environment by providing comprehensive support to journalists, media content creators, law students, practitioners, and law enforcement officials. This includes legal support for journalists facing harassment, legal-related and ethics management training, and educational initiatives to enhance the understanding of journalists' rights. The project focuses on promoting professional journalism standards, legal protections, and supporting democracy and rule of law in Kazakhstan. It seeks tangible, measurable project outcomes while discouraging projects limited to conferences, theoretical research, or book publishing. The program prioritizes the safety of journalists, the provision of knowledge on rights and responsibilities, and the development of skills to manage economic challenges, aiming to establish a safe, knowledgeable, and financially resilient media landscape.
