The mission of EPA is to protect human health and the environment - today and every day.
This grant focuses on community-engaged research to advance the use of air pollution data and enhance the communication of air quality information in underserved communities. It aims to empower local decisions and actions that address community-identified air pollution concerns. The grant supports projects that significantly involve communities, community-based organizations, and/or Tribes, focusing on two main priorities: developing methods and tools for data integration and analysis to characterize community exposures to air pollution and creating effective strategies for communicating air quality information to communities and decision-makers. This initiative aligns with federal priorities to promote environmental justice and tackle the climate crisis by addressing air pollution in underserved communities, as outlined in several Executive Orders.
