The mission of EPA is to protect human health and the environment - today and every day.
The FY 2024 National Environmental Information Exchange Network Grant Program aims to: facilitate the sharing of environmental data through shared and reusable services; reduce the regulatory and financial burden on co-regulators and the regulated community; streamline data collection and exchanges to improve decision-making timeliness; enhance the quality and accessibility of environmental data for environmental managers; and increase data and IT management capabilities for full participation in the Environmental Information Exchange Network (EN). The program identifies three key funding areas: 1) Increased Data Access and Innovative Business Processes, focusing on shared services, sensor technologies, and digital transformation projects, including geospatial data. 2) The elimination of paper submissions and expansion of e-reporting across various environmental data categories such as air quality, enforcement, compliance, waste, and water quality. 3) Augmenting the information management capacity of EN partners through building individual capacity, mentorship support, and collaborative capacity building. Funding opportunities are detailed in appendices, with various project opportunities under each funding area, including technology and processes to improve environmental data sharing and management.
