The mission of EPA is to protect human health and the environment - today and every day.
The grant aims to support the Integrated Atmospheric Deposition Network (IADN) in its mission to monitor persistent toxic chemicals in the Great Lakes basin. This involves collecting data on these chemicals in various forms (vapor, particulates, and precipitation) across both urban and rural sites to understand their origins, deposition, and environmental impacts. The goal is to inform and improve strategies for reducing the presence and effects of these toxic substances in Great Lakes ecosystems. The grant offers up to $7,200,000 over approximately six years for a cooperative agreement to support this work under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Action Plan III.
