    Overview

The Neighborhood Initiatives Fund Program, managed by the URA's Business Solutions Unit, aims to grant resources to enhance the economic and placemaking potential of neighborhood commercial corridors in the City of Pittsburgh. It focuses on supporting community investment strategies that lead to a more equitable Pittsburgh and encourage formal collaborative partnerships across the city. The program supports nonprofit and community-based organizations in projects that improve the quality of life and help maintain commercial corridors as attractive locations for small businesses. Project initiatives cover a wide range of efforts including vacant property reclamation, historic preservation, brownfield redevelopment, and public infrastructure improvements. The Program specifically funds up to 15 non-housing, place-based initiatives, and equitable neighborhood-scale projects within Pittsburgh’s neighborhood commercial corridors on a competitive basis. It also has specialized grant categories for ADA upgrades, public art, nonprofit building improvements, and small nonprofit organization grants. Tier 2 Grants range from $30,000.01 to $100,000.00 and require a matching fund ratio where for every $2 of Program funds, at least $1 must come from non-URA and non-City sources.
