To foster, promote and develop the maritime industry of the United States to meet the nation’s economic and security needs.
The FY 2024 Small Shipyard Grant Program, managed by the Maritime Administration (MARAD), aims to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of small shipyards in the United States. With a fund of up to $8,750,000 available for the fiscal year 2024, this program focuses on two main objectives: making capital improvements to qualified shipyard facilities to promote efficiency, competitive operations, and high-quality construction, repair, and reconfiguration of ships; and providing training for workers in shipbuilding, ship repair, and related industries. Applicants should note that due to high competition, only a small percentage of applications are expected to be funded, with the average grant historically being around $1 million.
