The grant aims to address significant challenges in Nigeria related to terrorism, transnational organized crime, corruption, and underdeveloped criminal justice institutions. It focuses on improving the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, particularly in the area of Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense. The grant seeks to enhance these units' abilities to respond to explosive threats and to recover and stabilize areas in Nigeria affected by such threats. This includes addressing the storage of improvised explosive devices, adherence to international standards, and bridging the expertise gap due to the retirement of seasoned personnel.
