    Overview

The grant program aims to support the Kingdom of Morocco in addressing issues of overcrowding in Moroccan prisons and high rates of pretrial detention by assisting in the development and implementation of an effective Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI)/community corrections system. This initiative seeks to foster a streamlined and efficient ATI/community corrections regime, particularly within the context of Morocco’s draft ATI law. It encompasses efforts towards developing a drug diversion program for non-violent offenders, highlighting a focus on rehabilitation and diversion programs. The program aims to enhance the justice and corrections sectors' ability to offer equitable and efficient access to justice across Morocco, emphasizing the design of proposals that remain viable regardless of the passage of the ATI law.
