The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.
The grant program aims to establish a collaborative relationship to support botanical and environmental monitoring and assessment in alpine environments within National Parks. Its goals include conducting botanical surveys based on the GLORIA protocol, recruiting and training a diverse group of students and citizen scientists with an emphasis on BIPOC communities, providing participants with educational experiences in remote settings, and analyzing and sharing research findings related to alpine and montane ecosystems. The initiative seeks to monitor alpine vegetation, engage in citizen-science outreach, and disseminate the science stemming from these efforts.
