The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.
The FY2024 Battlefield Restoration Grants focus on restoring eligible Civil War, Revolutionary War, and War of 1812 battlefield sites to their day-of-battle conditions. These grants support planning and implementation activities for historic preservation projects at sites listed in specified Survey Reports and must be located outside the National Park System boundaries. Eligible properties include those previously aided by NPS’s Battlefield Land Acquisition Grant or owned by state/local governments within battlefield boundaries listed in the reports. Funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund, these competitive grants require a dollar-for-dollar non-Federal match and aim to engage communities in the stewardship and preservation of significant historical battlefields across the United States.
