The Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) supports people-to-people conversations with foreign publics on U.S. policy priorities.
The grant aims to fund organizations to conduct five English-language Model United Nations Simulation workshops at American Centers in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Wuhan. This initiative is geared towards enhancing cross-cultural understanding, leadership, English language proficiency, and critical thinking skills among Chinese high school and university students. By simulating UN procedures, students will improve their communication skills in debating, negotiating, and reaching consensus on global issues like climate change and artificial intelligence governance. The program objectives include promoting global citizenship and international engagement among Chinese youth, improving their diplomatic and public speaking skills in English, and strengthening U.S.-China bilateral relations through educational exchange.
