    Overview

    The FAA Aviation Research Grants Program seeks to fund research and cooperative agreements that address both the long-term growth and the immediate technical needs of civil aviation. It aims to support innovative and advanced research that could benefit civil aviation and commercial space transportation's future development. The program targets a wide array of scientific and engineering disciplines, emphasizing the importance of basic and applied research for technological advancements. Specific areas of interest include Capacity and Air Traffic Control Technology, Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance, Aviation Weather, Airports, Aircraft Safety Technology, Human Factors and Aviation Medicine, Systems Science/Operations Research, and advancements in Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Traffic Management. The program is open to colleges, universities, and other non-profit research institutions that can contribute to these goals.
