    Overview

The Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program (ATIIP) aims to distribute up to $44,550,000 across two grant categories: Planning and Design Grants, and Construction Grants. The broad goals of ATIIP include improving safety, efficiency, and reliability of active transportation networks; enhancing connectivity between active transportation and public transportation; improving resiliency and environmental protection of transportation infrastructure; and bettering quality of life in disadvantaged communities through expanded mobility opportunities. The ATIIP grants are designed to help communities identify and overcome barriers to pedestrian and bicycle network connectivity, fostering the development of infrastructure that supports walking and bicycling. They also encourage the integration of active transportation facilities with transit services to enhance public transportation access. Eligible organizations are encouraged to create or implement plans for active transportation networks that connect destinations within or between communities, or develop active transportation spines that link multiple communities, metropolitan regions, or states.
