The grant program focuses on two funding categories: Planning and Bridge Project grants, under the Bridge Investment Program (BIP) authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The program aims to support projects with a "rolling application" process to facilitate Planning and Bridge Project applications with specific deadlines for fiscal years 2023 through 2026. Bridge Project grants target projects with total eligible costs not exceeding $100 million. The overall goal is to distribute up to $9.7 billion in funding provided by the BIL across these fiscal years, aiding in the development and execution of projects that align with the infrastructure aims set out by the IIJA.
