The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office)'s mission is to advance the practice of community policing by state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. This mission is aligned with its role within the U.S. Department of Justice to support law enforcement agencies in building stronger community relationships and enhancing public safety.
The FY24 Promoting Access to Crisis Teams (PACT)– Community Policing Development (CPD) program aims to provide funding directly to state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies. The key goal is to create or expand crisis intervention teams and embed mental and behavioral health services within law enforcement. This initiative allows agencies to more effectively respond to individuals in crisis, fostering a safer and more supportive community environment.
