The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s mission is to help people before, during and after disasters.
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) aims to enhance the nation’s readiness against potential terrorist attacks and other catastrophic events. Its main objective is to support state and local efforts in preventing terrorism, preparing for threats and hazards that significantly risk U.S. security, and to reinforce national preparedness and resilience. The grant funds the development, maintenance, and implementation of 32 core capabilities critical to the National Preparedness Goal, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach involving various levels of government, organizations, and communities. The HSGP includes the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP), Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), and Operation Stonegarden (OPSG), aligning with homeland security missions to build a secure and resilient nation.
