The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s mission is to help people before, during and after disasters.
The grant, as directed by Congress and outlined in the FY 2024 appropriation, seeks to provide federal funds to non-federal entities helping to relieve overcrowding in CBP's short-term holding facilities. It supports costs associated with services for noncitizen migrants recently released by DHS. Eligible activities include renovations or modifications to facilities enhancing their ability to accommodate these individuals, aimed at mitigating the immediate needs and impacts on local communities.
