NIJ is the research, development and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. We are dedicated to improving knowledge and understanding of crime and justice issues through science.
This grant program aims to support two main types of investigator-initiated research. The first category focuses on studies that investigate how public policy interventions at any stage in the administration of justice could reduce observed racial and ethnic disparities within the justice system. The second category is dedicated to studies that enhance understanding and influence practice or policy (or both) regarding the intersections of race, ethnicity, crime, and justice in the United States.
