To foster health and well-being by providing federal leadership, partnership and resources for the compassionate and effective delivery of human services
The Maternity Group Home (MGH) program aims to provide a safe, stable, and suitable shelter for pregnant and/or parenting youth and young adults aged 16 to under 22 who are experiencing homelessness or have run away, along with their dependent children. The program allows for an 18-month stay, extendable to 21 months under specific circumstances, ensuring that the needs and safety of the dependent children are met, including adhering to facility safety standards for infants and children on-site. The MGH services extend beyond housing to include essential life skills training such as parenting skills, child development, family budgeting, and health and nutrition education. These services complement the Transitional Living Program's requirements, aiming to support youths and young adults in achieving significant improvements across four core outcome areas. The overarching goal of the MGH program is to foster long-term economic independence and ensure the well-being of both the youth and their children.
