    Overview

This grant program is designed to support secondary analyses of data relevant to the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), the primary federal funding source dedicated to providing child care subsidies to help eligible low-income working families. The grant's broad goal is to facilitate research that evaluates CCDF's effectiveness in improving the quality of child care for all children, enhancing child care program implementation, and promoting children’s healthy development and learning. It also focuses on supporting the education, training, and well-being of child care workers. Specific areas of interest include reducing barriers to access high-quality child care and early education, consumer education, recruitment and retention of qualified early care and education workforce, stabilizing high-quality care and education program supply, improving teacher and caregiver competencies, workforce well-being, and engaging families effectively. Preferred data sets for this analysis include the 2019 National Survey of Early Care and Education and various state- or territory-level data related to workforce registry, subsidies, and quality improvement metrics.
