To foster health and well-being by providing federal leadership, partnership and resources for the compassionate and effective delivery of human services
The grant program aims to support tribes and tribal consortia in designing and implementing initiatives to improve the effectiveness of tribal courts and legal representation in child welfare-related cases. The funding focuses on assessing and enhancing court operations to ensure children's safety, permanency, and well-being, alongside promoting family preservation, reunification, guardianship, and adoption processes. Recipients are expected to collaborate closely with tribal social service agencies to conduct court assessments, implement necessary changes based on those assessments, meet children's needs efficiently, and enhance the quality of court hearings and legal representation. Projects under this grant are intended to span four years.
