The Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs leads Department efforts to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other countries.
The Purpose of Public Diplomacy Grants program aims to strengthen ties between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic by supporting projects that highlight shared values and promote bilateral cooperation. All programs must incorporate an American element, such as partnerships with U.S. experts, organizations, or institutions, or the use of American educational or informational resources. Competitive proposals will encourage sustainable cooperation beyond the project's end and those including partnerships with Kyrgyz governmental bodies are favored. Priority areas include Sustainable Economic Growth, Accountable Governance and Stability, English Language Programming, Climate Change Resilience and Environmental Protection, and Combating Transnational Threats.
