The Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs leads Department efforts to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other countries.
The primary goal of the U.S. Speakers’ Program is to bring dynamic U.S. citizen experts to Japan to discuss topics of strategic importance to both the U.S. and Japan. These topics include regional security, cybersecurity, climate and energy issues, diversity, equity and inclusion, advancing women’s economic empowerment, supply chain protection, and combating foreign information manipulation. The program encourages activities that foster concrete networking and contact-building. It supports both in-person and virtual engagements and accentuates the importance of collaboration with Japanese project partners for successful implementation. The grant aims to select one program implementer with an award of up to $200,000.
