The Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs leads Department efforts to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other countries.
The Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program by PDS Praia supports projects that enhance the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Cabo Verde, with a preference for initiatives in the environment, renewable energy, small business promotion, and English language expansion. Suitable projects can range from academic and professional lectures, seminars, speaker programs, professional and academic exchanges, journalism, tech trainings like hackathons and coding camps, to programs that bolster connections between U.S. and Cabo Verdean educational institutions, businesses, and regional organizations. It also includes support for American Spaces in libraries and community centers, as well as initiatives led by alumni of U.S. exchange programs.
