The Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs leads Department efforts to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other countries.
The grant program aims to support organizations or individuals who propose initiatives that enhance the cultural relationship between the U.S. and Myanmar. The guiding principles include encouraging programs with an American cultural element or connection, which will foster increased understanding of U.S. perspectives. Priority is given to proposals that focus on promoting a greater understanding of U.S. policies and culture in Myanmar, supporting an inclusive and diverse society, enhancing education and cultural exchanges, and fostering media literacy, independent journalism, and press freedom. Selected proposals will address program areas such as building people-to-people ties, promoting tolerance and socio-economic development, linking private academic and cultural institutions, and combating disinformation.
