DARPA’s Biological Technologies Office (BTO) develops capabilities that embrace the unique properties of biology and applies those features to revolutionize how the United States protects its Warfighters.
The grant aims at supporting innovative proposals in the realm of intravascular gas-exchange and trauma resuscitation through a single intravascular cannula. It seeks revolutionary advances, rather than evolutionary improvements, that could lead to the development of devices capable of managing polytrauma patients through a single vascular access point, without the thrombotic complications seen in current practices like extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
